2010 Web Awards are kicking off now!

The 2010 Web Awards, sponsored by the Web Marketing Association, are getting underway and I’m looking forward to them!

I started as a Web Awards Judge in 2004, after having won awards for my work on Visteon.com in 2002 and 2003. And I’ve been a judge every year since.

It’s time consuming, but well worth it.

When the judging begins, I always think to myself that I should be too busy for something like this.
I remember going through my entries for last year at 3 a.m., after a long day of onboarding and planning for a huge, major project at Lurn. I’m sure I said to myself more than once, “This is the last year of this …”

But it couldn’t be. In fact, as soon as I was done with my first round of judging, I immediately signed up for more, willing to take entries off the hands of others who might have been too busy or too overwhelmed. And the next night, I stayed up too late looking at the entries, swearing that “this is the last year of this” again.

I really love getting to see the sites that others are working on, seeing the most interesting and effective best practices for web communication in action, and learning from them.

Have you entered your site in the Web Awards? If you haven’t, do it now. Trust me, you’ll get hooked.
